K9 For A Day

The City of Greenville, NC partnered with the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina to raise awareness of animals in shelters, promote pet adoption, and connect with the community. K9 for a Day partners a dog from the Humane Society shelter with police officers for an afternoon ride-along. Specific K9’s are often chosen to bring attention to pets that have difficulty being adopted due to breed, age, or health issues. This award-winning program has been featured by local, regional, and national media, and continues to be one of the most popular and well-known initiatives among the public.
